What it is
The European Student Card is the European Commission's answer to a simple problem: a student card from one university means little at another. The card carries a European card number and a QR code that any university or service in Europe can check against a single European system, so your status as a CUT student is recognised without anyone having to issue you a new card.
You do not need to be going on Erasmus+ to have one. Every student of the University can get it — and when you do go abroad, it is already on your phone.

What it does
It proves you are a student. Show the QR code; whoever checks it scans it and sees that your card is valid, that the Cyprus University of Technology issued it, and until when. That is all the check reveals.
It opens doors that ask for a student card — on and off campus: university buildings and libraries, student discounts on transport, culture and sport, at any institution or service that recognises the European Student Card, and at your host university when you go on mobility. The list of participating services is growing; the Commission keeps it at europeanstudentcard.eu.
What it is not. The card proves student status; it is not an identity document and not a travel document. Carry your ID or passport as usual.
How to get it

Sign in with your university e-mail
Go to erasmus-cut.app and sign in with your @edu.cut.ac.cy address. You get a one-time code — no password. Signing in this way is what confirms you are a student of the University, so there is nothing to upload.

Check three things on your profile
Your student number, your first and last name as they appear on your ID, and your study level — Bachelor, Master or Doctorate. If one is missing, the app tells you which.

Tick the statement and issue your card
Read the one-sentence statement (it is quoted under Your data, below), tick it, and tap Issue my card. The card appears on your Passport at once, with its QR code.

Add a photo, if you like
Optional. A clear, recent portrait makes the card more useful, because whoever checks it can see it is yours. You can add, change or remove it at any time.
How long it lasts
Your card is valid until 30 September. From 1 September you can renew it in one tap, after signing in — signing in with your university e-mail is the check that you are still a student, so renewing takes seconds.
You can keep renewing for up to twelve months after you graduate, so the card stays with you through a graduate traineeship abroad. A card that is not renewed switches off on its own.
Your data
The card is optional and is issued only when you ask for it. Before it is issued you tick this statement, and the date and time are recorded:
“I understand that Cyprus University of Technology will send my name, student identifier, university e‑mail and study level (and my photo, if I add one) to the European Commission’s European Student Card Router so that my European Student Card can be issued.”
That is everything that is sent — nothing else from your profile or from any Erasmus+ application. The European Student Card Router is run by the European Commission; for the copy it holds, the University and the Commission are joint controllers. Changed your mind? Remove the card from your Passport at any time. It is cancelled and your cardholder record and photo are deleted from the Router at once. You can ask for a new card later. The University's Data Protection Officer is reachable at gdpr.dpo@cut.ac.cy.
Studying at CUT on exchange?
If your home university has already given you a European Student Card, keep using it — it works wherever the card is accepted. If it has not, the Erasmus Office is adding a CUT card for the length of your exchange to the portal you already use with us. We will write to you when it is ready.
