Eligibility & rules
Can I participate in Erasmus+ more than once?
Yes. You are entitled to a maximum of 12 months of Erasmus+ mobility per study cycle (undergraduate, master’s, PhD). So you could combine, say, a 5-month semester exchange, a 2-month summer internship and several short programmes (BIPs), as long as the total stays within 12 months.
Can I apply to study or work in my home country?
It is technically possible but strongly discouraged. Applications for mobility in your country of permanent residence get the lowest priority for funding, and are only approved if budget remains after everyone else.
Do I need to speak the local language fluently?
Not necessarily — most partner universities offer plenty of courses in English. If a host institution requires a specific language, or you take an internship in a local business, you must meet their requirements.
Semester exchange & ECTS
What is the “25 ECTS minimum” rule?
To go abroad for a semester you must find courses at the partner university that correspond to your CUT curriculum and get pre-approval from your Departmental Coordinator for at least 25 ECTS. Without it, the application is automatically rejected.
Do the classes abroad have to be exactly the same as my CUT classes?
No. Your courses abroad must have similar or complementary learning outcomes — not an identical match. Your Departmental Erasmus Coordinator evaluates and approves the equivalencies via your Learning Agreement.
How does the point system work if there are limited seats?
When there are more applicants than funded seats, applications are ranked on the criteria published on the call itself — a departmental course-equivalence approval that must be in place before anything else counts, points for your GPA, year of study and language level, and deductions if you have been on Erasmus before or are applying to your country of origin. Internships & traineeships
Can I do an internship after I graduate?
Yes. Recent graduates are eligible, but you must apply while still an active student, before your graduation date. Once approved, you have 12 months from graduation to complete the mobility.
Does the university find the host company for me?
No. For a traineeship you find and secure your own host organisation. You can use portals like ErasmusIntern.org or ask your professors for industry contacts.
Funding & payments
When exactly do I receive the grant money?
You receive 90% after you arrive and submit your signed Arrival Form and boarding passes. The remaining 10% is paid within 30 days of completing your mobility and submitting your Departure Form and EU survey.
Does the grant cover all my expenses?
The grant is a contribution to the extra costs of living abroad, not a full scholarship. It includes a monthly allowance (up to €674) and travel support, but expect to use some savings depending on your host city.
Am I eligible for the €250 inclusion top-up?
The €250 monthly top-up is for students facing socioeconomic barriers, specific health conditions, or who fall under special admission categories. Contact the Erasmus Office to verify your eligibility.
